H.M. Pernal’s “Zanel” to be Released on June 27
Mangaluru: Renowned Konkani poet, critic, and journalist H.M. Pernal is set to release his much-anticipated fourth poetry collection titled Zanel (Window) on Friday, June 27, at 4:30 PM at the MCC Bank Administrative Building Auditorium, Mangaluru.
The book will be formally released by Jnanpith Award-winning Konkani writer Damodar Mauzo. The collection will be introduced by noted poet Melvyn Rodrigues, Convenor of the Sahitya Akademi Konkani Language Advisory Board, New Delhi. The event will be presided over by Michael D’Souza, NRI entrepreneur, philanthropist, and promoter of Vision Konkani.
Sneha Sabnis, General Secretary of the All India Konkani Parishad, and Kishoo Barkur, storyteller and President of Kavita Trust, will grace the occasion as guests of honor.


Zanel marks H.M. Pernal’s fourth poetry collection and adds to his substantial body of work in Konkani and Kannada literature spanning over four decades. He has previously published three poetry collections, two short story collections, and a critical work titled Konkani Kavyem – Rupam ani Rupakam. His short story collection Beeg Ani Bigath won the Vimala V. Pai World Konkani Best Literary Work Award, while his critical work earned accolades from both the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Akademi and the Goa Konkani Akademi.
H.M. Pernal currently serves as the editor of the online literary magazine Kittall, publisher of the Konkani literary magazine Arso, and chief editor of the Michael D’Souza Vision Konkani Book Grant Scheme.
