Fr Vincent V Menezes-the Former Editor of Konkani Weekly ‘Raknno’ Passed Away at 75

Mangaluru: Fr Vincent Victor Menezes, the former editor of renowned Konkani Weekly Magazine ‘Raknno’, passed away at 3 pm on Thursday 20 May , at the age of 75.


Born on 3 November 1945 and hailing from Valencia, Fr Vincent, the son of Gregory and Magdalen Menezes, was ordained to priesthood on 23 October 1974, after which he had served as -1974 – 1977 Assistant Parish Priest Kirem; 1977 – 1980 Assistant Parish Priest Bejai; 1980 – 1983 Parish Priest Narampady; 1983 – 1984 Journalism Studies Mumbai; 1985 – 1993 Managing Editor – Raknno Bishop’s House; 1993 – 2000 Parish Priest Pernal; 2000 – 2007 Parish Priest Miyar; 2007 – 2014 Parish Priest Cascia;  2014 – 2016 Resident Bendur;  2016 Parochial Administrator Derebail; 2016 – 2019 Parish Priest Paldane; and 2019 – Retired at St Zuze Vaz Home

Pursuing his studies in Journalism from Mumbai University, Fr Vincent Menezes had served as the Managing Editor of Konkani weekly magazine ‘Raknno’ from 1985 to 1993. He had also served as the parochial administrator in Derebail Church. Since 2019 after his retirement, he has been residing at the retired fathers home-St Zuze Vaz Home, Jeppu in the city.

Funeral services will be held on 21 May at 10 am at Valencia Church Priests Cemetery, under strict Covid-19 protocols.
