June 21, 2025

Mangaluru, June 21, 2025: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) marked the 11th International Yoga Day with great pride and vibrant participation on 21st June at 3:00 PM in the Father Muller Indoor Stadium. The event brought together over 1,500 faculty and students from all educational units under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society – One Earth, One Health.”

The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the illumination of the mind and spirit through the practice of yoga. The stadium exuded harmony as participants, clad in coordinated white and black attire, came together in a serene display of collective energy and focus.

Delivering the presidential address, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of FMCI, described yoga as India’s timeless gift to the world. “Yoga is an exercise of the mind, body, and soul — it calms the spirit, sharpens the senses, and connects us with our inner being and environment,” he said. He emphasized that yoga is more than a physical routine — it is a vital life practice that brings balance in the fast-paced modern world.

The event was meticulously organized by NSS Faculty Coordinators and Mr. Chandrashekara S. N., Director of Physical Education at FMCI, along with his dedicated team. The yoga session was conducted by Dr. Nishitha from the Department of Yoga and Naturopathy, who led the session with grace and discipline, supported by Dr. Nisha, a district-level group artistic yoga awardee.

Adding vibrancy to the event were impressive live demonstrations by FMCI’s accomplished student performers, led by Sandrasen P, a distinguished yogasana practitioner with notable achievements:

  • Honored by the Central Ministry (2022)
  • Five-time State Gold Medalist (2018–2022)
  • National School Games Winner (Kolkata – 2019, New Delhi – 2022)
