Electric car designed and developed by students and staff of NMAM Institute of Technology

Mangaluru: An electric car is designed and developed by a team of staff and students of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte.

Petrol engine-based Maruti Omni car of the Institute is transformed into a pollution-free, energy efficient & eco-friendly Electric Vehicle. Power Electronic converters designed and developed by the team successfully drive the electric motor and charge the battery array of the vehicle. Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT launched this Electric Omni Car on 28 July 2020 in the college premises and appreciated the efforts of the team. Project Mentor, Dr. Suryanarayana K, Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering narrated the project journey. Both the Principal and the Project Mentor expressed indebtedness to the President of Nitte Education Trust, Sri. N. Vinaya Hegde for encouraging research culture in the institute. Vice-Principals, registrar, head of EEE and various other departments, teaching and support staff witnessed the event.
