“Donate your Hair to Care” Hair donation drive and Awareness on POCSO organized at Alangar
Mangaluru: Hair loss during chemotherapy or radiation is the most physical apparent sign of cancer disease. The Mangalore Diocesan developmental NGO – CODP runs “SPARSHA” – Campaign against Cancer by creating awareness on this dreaded disease.
CODP, Caritas India in collaboration with Women’s Association Alangar, and Pragathi Mahasangha Moodbidri jointly organized an event called “Hair Donation Drive” to help the poor patients with free wigs on Wednesday, October 06, 2021 at Alangar Church Hall.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Mr. Manohar Cutinha, President Catholic Sabha Moodbidri; Mr Rajesh D Souza, President Catholic Sabha Alangar; Ms. Shobha Sequeira, President Womens Association Alangar; Ms Lydia Moras, Ms Shilpa D Souza, Ms Laveena Lobo from CODP were present on the dais.
Program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. Mr Antony Nazareth, staff of CODP welcomed the gathering.
Ms Lydia Moras gave awareness on POCSO and RTI and also encouraged the people to check development in their local area through filing RTI.
Ms Shilpa D Souza spoke on the cause of donating hair to the cancer patients. She congratulated all the hair donors saying they are bringing a smile back on the face of poor patients. She wished many more would be motivated by this noble activity. This event was organized in the presence of 51 participants.
Seven young children namely Melisha D Souza, Maclin D Souza, Treesha Lobo, Rishal Noronha, Princia Noronha, Alvita Nazareth and Dilisha Castelino donated their hair for this great cause.
As a token of gratitude all the hair donors were honored with a memento and certificates.
Ms Mabel Lobo SHG member compered the program and Ms Rita Blosilla member of Pragathi Mahasangha proposed the Vote of thanks.
