Mangalore: Conventachem Fest of Monte Mariano Friary held at Farangipet

Mangalore, 7th October 2018: The annual feast of  ‘Monte Mariano' convent, a name that most of the Mangaloreans will remember for the origin of Monthi Feast, was held with great grandeur and pomp on 07th October 2018. This feast is also known as the  Coventachem Fest (vodlem fest) and is actually the feast of  St Francis of Assisi. It has a special place among catholic fraternity of Mangalore as this feast marks the start of the season of parish feasts in the Diocese.  

The festive high mass was presided over by Very Rev. Fr Dolphy Pais OFM Cap, provincial of Holy Trinity Province of Karnataka. Rev. Fr Cyprian Peter Dsouza OFM Cap the Provincial Councilor, Rev. Fr Gerald Lobo OFM Cap, superior of the monastery and many other priests concelebrated in the Eucharistic celebration.

Rev Fr. Dolphy Devdas Serrao OFM Cap rendered a wonderful homily depicting the life of St Francis of Assisi. 

On this ocassion Very Rev. Fr Dolphy Pais OFM Cap, the provincial of Holy Trinity Province of Karnataka released the 2019 Bible diary named as 'Capuchinacho Dispodtho Bible - 2019' compiled by Rev. Fr Paul Melwyn Dsouza OFM (PaMeDi) and Rev. Fr Chethan OFM. Thereafter Rev. Fr Gerald Lobo OFM Cap, the superior of the convent thanked the congregation for partaking in the mass. He also thanked the benefactors and sponsors, especially the non catholic brethren for sponsoring sounds and other articles for the festive celebration.

The festive celebrations ended with the sumptuous lunch.
