Mangalore, March 15: Milagres College, Mangalore organized a mega Job fair 'Career Connect a 2018’ on March 15, 2018 in the college premises. Ho'ble MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency, Mr J R Lobo, inaugurated the job fair.
Addressing the gathering the Mr. Lobo, referring to the youth said “Every institution is evaluated on the basis of student’s placement. Education has different purposes and dimensions and finding a job is a major purpose. It is sad to see the situation when educated youth do not get good jobs. When they are unemployed, they become desperate and the society will fall in danger. So it is the society’s responsibility to provide jobs to youths." "In our country, youth are not getting jobs as per their qualifications and eligibility. They are unhappy in India’s job market and hence go abroad. In Mangaluru also, we are facing the same problem. We have outstanding education facilities here and churning out thousands of graduates every year. But job opportunities are very few. I have a dream of making this city an investment friendly city and attract the educated youth to settle here. Qualification and competition are like two faces of a coin. Both are very important in our life. Success is not achieved overnight; every opportunity available should be made use with competent spirit. Candidates must have acquired sills of competency to qualify for the job. There is no unemployment in the country, but there are no right people for the right job. It is necessary that youth have the urge and desire to compete and acquire skills. Youth need to update themselves with changing times and fulfill their dreams” he added.
The Guest of Honour and Management Member, Mr Archibald Menezes said, “Getting a good job is becoming an adventure these days. Job aspirants are facing tough competition. Companies too prefer candidates with experience and hence fresh graduates find it difficult to get a job. But these types of job fairs is a stepping stone in the field of employment and will help potential candidates to get a decent job as per their qualification. Talents need to be identified and confidence should be showcased. Job fair of such kind will build a bridge to the future and building the career with possible speed is the need of the hour. We are conducting this job fair as part of social responsibility. I wish all the best and a bright future all the job aspirants who have come here.”
Thousands of students and job seekers attended the job fair. As many as 2000 jobs were on offer from 60 state and national level companies.
