Mangalore: 450 years celebrations of Holy Rosary Cathedral invitations released

Mangalore, Nov 2: The invitation of 450 years of the celebrations of the existence of Rosario Cathedral- church was released on 1st November, 2018 at Rosario Cathedral Hall by Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore. The event will take place on Sunday 18th November 2018 at the Rosario Cathedral grounds. Prior to this three days of Retreat will take place from 15, 16 and 17 November. 

On this occasion Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore addressed the gathering and said “It’s an occasion of joy and pride to celebrate the 450 years of the existence of the faith in the diocese. It is great event in the life of the church to recall the history of our ancestor’s faith. The Portuguese who came from Goa brought the devotion of Our Lady of the Rosary to our costal area which today has brought much fruits in the lives of our Faithful of Canara”. He also appealed the congregation that this is the time that we all need to unite and have deep commitment to our faith. He also called for an active participation of all the people in the forthcoming celebration. 

Rev Fr JB Crasta, Rector of the Cathedral, Rev Fr Flavian Lobo, Asst Parish Priest, Mr MP Noronha, Secretary of the Diocesan Pastoral Parishad, Mr CJ Simon, Vice President were present on the dais. Mr C.J. Simon welcomed the gathering, Mrs. Elizabeth Roche, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Parishad compeered the programme and proposed vote of thanks. Mr Sushil Noronha, Dr John D Silva, Mr Elias Fernandes the proprietor of Four Winds and many other media people and lay leaders of the parish were present.
