Jessy Pinto elected president of KORWA

Mangaluru, July 2: Konkan Overseas Returnees Welfare Association (KORWA) a social service organization in Mangalore, held its extraordinary general body meeting recently at Olives in Kadri, Mallikatta, Mangaluru. The main agenda of the meeting was the election of the new executive committee for the period 2017 – 2019. 

The meeting commenced at 7.30 pm with the opening prayer by Flora Hislop. Outgoing President Louis Lobo heartily welcomed the gathering and expressed his gratitude towards all the members for their support, love and encouragement. He also thanked the sponsors, well wishers, media friends and people who provide their continual support to KORWA. 

A short presentation highlighting the achievements of KORWA, to its committee members for the term 2016 – 2017 was given to the audience by Meera D Souza secretary, which was well received and appreciated by all. Ronald Gomes, treasurer presented the financial report and it was approved by the members. 

The election commission led by Elias Sanctis then began with the proceedings of electing the new committee. Jessy Pinto was unanimously elected as president for the year 2017-2019. 

The new committee is as below: 
President- Jessy Pinto 
Vice president- David D Souza , 
General secretary - Flora Hislop, 
Joint secretary Greta Gomes, 
Treasurer Vilma Menezes, 
Cultural secretary- John Fernandes. 

The audience applauded the newly elected committee and Jessy Pinto, KORWA’s president for the upcoming term thanked and sought everyone’s support and co-operation for a successful tenure. 

Flora Hislop, newly elected secretary proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude towards everyone who had supported KORWA.
