Belthangady: Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra® in collaboration with Child fund India (LEEP) organized women’s day on March 8th 2018 at Subramanya Stanika Sabha Bhavan, Laila, Belthanagdy.
The celebrations officially began with a rally at Laila junction. Through slogans and singing songs the rally proceeded began at 10.30 am. Ms. Indira, President of the women federation presided over the stage program. Ms. Deena Dsouza, lecturer of St. Aloysius College was present as resource person of the day.
Fr. Vijay, Vice President of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra® Ms. Veena Rao, president of the Laila gram panchayath and Fr. Vinod Mascarenhas, Director of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra® were present on the occasion. The rally was officially flagged off by opening the banner by Ms. Vasanthi, Member of Laila Gram Panchayath Member. Belthangady police were present and coordinated smooth moving of the rally.
Ms. Deena D’souza who was a resource person for the day spoke about women rights and duties. RP called the gathering to be empowered force in the community. After the stage program one hour self - defence workshop was facilitated by resource person Mr. Karthik S kateel. Mr. Karthik S Kateel demonstrated easy techniques to protect self especially women from abuse. Resource person demonstrated 5 easy techniques to protect themselves whenever women are in trouble.
After these informative sessions different women group presented their cultural group performances. Approximately 600 women members of the SHG federation took part in this mega event which concluded with a fellowship meal.
